Small folio, three volumes, 1880 pp. indices, 56 uncoloured engraved plates. Contemporary full calf, worn, modern spines with labels, some library stamps of the "Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales", occasional heavy foxing and oxidation, slight worming and some staining. The copy of E. P. Ramsay (1842-1916 and curator of the Australian Museum) with his large copperplate signature in all volumes; although there are blemishes it is still a sound, acceptable set.
The individual volumes are stand alone monographs. Volume one, The History of Fossils, with 12 plates; volume 2, The History of Plants, with 16 plates; volume 3, The History of Animals, with 28 zoological plates, including shellfish, fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
